How to connect Robinhood

Create a read-only key at Robinhood

Sign in to Robinhood and create a API key and Ed25519 private key with read permission only. Leave trading and withdrawal permissions switched off.

Copy the credential

Robinhood shows it once. Copy it before you leave the page, because you cannot read it back afterwards.

Paste it into Chain Glance

Open the Exchanges page, choose Robinhood, and paste the credential.

Wait for the first sync

Chain Glance reads your balances and walks your history back to the start of the account. Transactions appear while the sync is still running.

Read-only, always. Chain Glance never asks for trading or withdrawal permission on your Robinhood account, and cannot move anything out of it. Revoke the key at Robinhood whenever you want and the connection simply stops.

Why Robinhood needs its own handling

Robinhood Crypto signs requests with an Ed25519 key rather than the usual HMAC secret, so Chain Glance uses a purpose-built adapter for it. Trades are dated by when they filled, not when they were placed, which keeps your transaction history accurate to the day.

Moving coins off Robinhood is not a sale

When you withdraw to a wallet you own, Chain Glance recognises the Robinhood withdrawal and the on-chain deposit as two sides of one transfer. Most trackers record them as a disposal and a fresh purchase, which is not what happened.

Why does Robinhood need a different kind of key?
Robinhood Crypto signs requests with an Ed25519 key instead of the usual shared secret, so Chain Glance uses an adapter built for it. You generate the key pair in your Robinhood crypto settings and paste in the public key and the private key.
Does this cover my Robinhood stocks?
No. The connection covers Robinhood Crypto. Stock and options positions are outside what Chain Glance tracks.
Which date does a Robinhood trade get?
The date it filled. An order placed late one evening and filled after midnight lands on the day it actually executed, which keeps your transaction history accurate to the day.
Can Chain Glance trade or withdraw from my Robinhood account?
No. Chain Glance only reads. Create the key with read permission and leave trading and withdrawal switched off. If a key with wider permissions is pasted in, Chain Glance still only ever reads from it.
