How to connect Kraken

Create a read-only key at Kraken

Sign in to Kraken and create a read-only API key and private key with read permission only. Leave trading and withdrawal permissions switched off.

Copy the credential

Kraken shows it once. Copy it before you leave the page, because you cannot read it back afterwards.

Paste it into Chain Glance

Open the Exchanges page, choose Kraken, and paste the credential.

Wait for the first sync

Chain Glance reads your balances and walks your history back to the start of the account. Transactions appear while the sync is still running.

Read-only, always. Chain Glance never asks for trading or withdrawal permission on your Kraken account, and cannot move anything out of it. Revoke the key at Kraken whenever you want and the connection simply stops.

Why Kraken needs its own handling

Kraken staking sits in its own Earn bucket instead of inflating your spot balance. The ledger is paginated all the way back to account inception, so a Kraken account opened years ago reconstructs its full history rather than starting from the last few months.

Moving coins off Kraken is not a sale

When you withdraw to a wallet you own, Chain Glance recognises the Kraken withdrawal and the on-chain deposit as two sides of one transfer. Most trackers record them as a disposal and a fresh purchase, which is not what happened.

Where do staking rewards show up?
In their own Earn bucket. Staked coins stay separate from your spot balance instead of inflating it, and the rewards appear as their own ledger entries.
Can Chain Glance trade or withdraw from my Kraken account?
No. Chain Glance only reads. Create the key with read permission and leave trading and withdrawal switched off. If a key with wider permissions is pasted in, Chain Glance still only ever reads from it.
Are Kraken futures included?
Yes. Futures positions sync alongside your spot holdings and appear in the same portfolio view.
